Popular American Talk Show Plays DBSK’s “Catch Me”

On October 1, DBSK’s title track from their 6th album “Catch Me” has been heard playing as the opening song for American talk show “Live! with Kelly & Michael.” The MCs made their entrance and strut their stuff to their respective seats while the song set the tone for a fun segment.
What’s worthy to note is that the song has been released very recently, on September 24, and hasn’t had the chance to be fully promoted locally nor were there any official promotions within the States. Thus, it’s a double surprise that “Catch Me” was played at the talk show.
“Catch Me” has been choreographed by Tony Testa, who previously worked with Michael Jackson and also created the choreography for labelmate SHINee’s “Sherlock.”
In related news, labelmate Girls’ Generation made an appearance at “Live! with Kelly” (author’s note: the show experienced a name change on September 4, 2012) this past February with their song “The Boys.”

DBSK: “You Want Us To Leave Easily? We Still Want To Perform”

It’s been a year and 8 months since their last album release. It can be considered a long time in the music world. They endured a long time during the wait. Their music, their dance and even their aura has changed. Their title track is an electronic number narrowing into dubstep, which is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London, England, and interwoven with orchestra instruments.
DBSK had a chance to sit down with Dispatch for an interview.
◆ “We succeeded easily? It’s the fruit of our labor”
Changmin: “We suddenly received popularity in Korea right after we debuted. We started our Japanese promotions a year after debut. We thought that at least some of our popularity would carry over to Japan. We were caught off guard. Our debut single completely flopped. Because our budget was so tight, we wore the same clothes for 2 months straight… We realized then how important ‘cho-shim’ (author’s note: it translates to ‘thoughts like the beginning’).”
Yunho: “To be honest, we took popularity for granted. We were physically tired and had moments when we were frustrated. But we changed a lot after waiting for a long period. I realized that what’s really important is to receive cheers and love when I’m on stage. I’m really thankful for the support and therefore want to show a much better performance.”
◆ “Local promotions is DBSK’s root, that’s why “Catch Me
Yunho: “We thought that it’s not so good to focus so much on activities abroad if our roots in Korea become weak. That’s why we decided again to start from Korea. Our biggest goal is to show charms only we have and also try and communicate different things. It’s important to find a balance.”
◆ “You want us to leave easily? We still want to perform”
Changmin: “We actually wanted to make a comeback much earlier than now. But, our strengths have changed and we wanted to show a new side to ourselves. That’s why it took this much time. Even though we aimed to solve the situation quickly, DBSK is a group that can’t be quickly solved. There’s also a big burden because of high expectations. But still, it’s important to show our new selves, DBSK’s charms.”

Who Will Win the “Rookie of the Year” Award? Ailee vs. B.A.P vs EXO

Talks about the rookie artist, who shone the most this year, are already taking place.
Strong candidates for the rookie award include EXO-K, B.A.P and Ailee. It is reported that other girl groups or male solo artists have not yielded as great results as those three candidates.
B.A.P had a busy year filled with various promotions. They debuted this past January and have released four tracks so far. They started with their debut track, “Warrior,” then “Power,” “No Mercy” and “Crash.” Reportedly, B.A.P will be releasing another new track soon.
Many of the other existing boy groups have many nuna (older female) fans. However, B.A.P has tried to differentiate themselves by targeting female teens. Their fan cafe membership exceeds 60,000 and they set records with the #1 rank in various countries such as Taiwan, Malaysia and Germany.
SM Entertainment‘s rookie group EXO had a stand-out number of sales this year. As soon as EXO came out with their debut album “MAMA,” they sold over 100,000 copies in just one month. After debuting “MAMA” on April 9, EXO-K sold over 70,000 copies and EXO-M sold over 30,000 copies for a total of around 110,000 copies. This is quite an accomplishment for a rookie artist. The concept of having two sub-groups, EXO-K and EXO-M at the same time seems to have succeeded.
Ailee is being evaluated as the most successful mainstream rookie artist. After her debut track “Heaven” was released, it stayed on the top of the charts for a while. Her  “Immortal Song” appearances also helped her succeed. Her attractive looks as well as her exceptional vocal skills have made her possibly the most famous rookie artist this year.
It is reported that she is preparing to release a new track this month and is currently wrapping up preparations for her come back.

Double A Releases MV for “AGEHA Dance”

With boy group Double A set to make their official comeback in a few weeks, they have revealed their music video for “AGEHA Dance” today.
Instead of a traditional music video, they show off their cute and playful sides through self recorded videos of their travels and performances. The video was also edited by member Aoora.
The song was co-produced by Aoora & Frankie A., and was inspired by “AGEHA”, the biggest dance club in Japan. Last summer the group was invited to perform there by popular Japanese Dj Daishi Dance.
